I admit to saying nasty things about my own body. 97 percent of women admit to saying negative things about their body at least once per day.
It doesn't make me any skinner to call myself fat, it doesn't make me any smarter to call myself stupid and I won't accomplish anything by saying I'm wasting my time. So why do we do it?
Some people blame it on the Barbie dolls and Magazines we grew up with, modeling unrealistic body images. Sometimes it comes from deep-rooted emotional issues and when we are already down about something we tend to attack ourselves.
Regardless of the reason, there is one simple & amazing question that can help you overcome these negative thoughts.
"Would I say that to a child?"
Imagine yourself as a 5 year old child and repeat that negative thought out loud. I guarantee you'll re-think what you're saying.
Another one is: What if my boyfriend/husband said that to me? You'd probably slap him right?
These simple questions can help you re-think the way you word your thoughts, but here's another technique I like to use to flip the switch and alter my attitude:
Imagine your thoughts as bubbles, like in a cartoon. When you have a negative thought take your finger and poke the bubble, watch it burst and crash to the ground, now replace it with a prettier happier more positive thought. This will instantly put a smile on your face and change your outlook.
Hope you will use this tool to help control your thoughts about yourself. Remember that thoughts become things!!
